1998 The D-backs

The Diamondbacks are a professional baseball team based in Phoenix, Arizona. They play in the West Division of the National LeagueSince their debut, the Diamondbacks have won five National League West titles, one National League Championship pennant and the 2001 World Series, in which they defeated the New York Yankees of the American LeagueThey became the fastest expansion team in the majors to win a championship, doing it in only the fourth season since their expansion in 1998. The team name is often shortened as The D-backs and other nickname is The Snakes.


1998 D-Rays

The Rays are based in St. PetersburgFlorida. They are currently a member of the American League East Division. They began play as a Devil Rays. Prior to the 2008 season the team unveiled new uniforms along with a name change. Considered were options such as the "Aces," "Bandits," "Cannons," "Dukes," "Stripes," and team owner personal favorite, the "Nine". Team nickname is D-Rays. The 2008 season saw the Rays win their first AL East championship. They defeated the rival Boston Red Sox to win the AL Championship, but lost to the NL champion Philadelphia Phillies in that year's World Series. Since then, the Rays won their second AL East championship in 2010. The Rays' second chief rival arNew York Yankees and they also have an intrastate rivalry with the National League's Miami Marlins.


1993 The Rox

The Rockies are franchise based in DenverColorado. They are currently members of the National League West Division. They took the name "Rockies" due to Denver's proximity to the Rocky Mountains, which is reflected in their logo. They are nicknamed The Rox. They began play in 1993, sharing Mile High Stadium with the National Football League's Denver Broncos their first two seasons while Coors Field was constructed. Their newest Spring Training home, Salt River Fields at Talking Stick, opened in March 2011 and is shared with the Arizona Diamondbacks. In 2007 they won AL Pennant and advanced all the way to the World Series, only to be swept by the Boston Red Sox


1993 The Fightin' Fish

The Marlins are a professional baseball team based in MiamiFlorida and a member of the Eastern Division of National LeagueThe Miami Marlins began play in the 1993 season as the Florida Marlins and they changed their name to the "Miami Marlins" in 2011. They are nicknamed The Fish, The Fightin' Fish, Miracle Marlins, Rainbow Fish. The Marlins have the distinction of winning a World Series championship every year they qualified for the postseason. They defeated the American League champion Cleveland Indians in the 1997 series and the New York Yankees in the 2003 World Series.



1977 The M's

The Mariners are based in SeattleWashingtonEnfranchised in 1977, they are a member of the Western Division of American League. The "Mariners" name originates from the prominence of marine culture in the city of Seattle. They are nicknamed "the M's", a title featured in their primary logo from 1987–1992. They won their first division championship and defeated the New York Yankees in 1995, and later two more. The Mariners are one of eight teams without a World Series title, and one of two (along with the Washington Nationals) to never have appeared in a World Series. Owned by Nintendo, the Mariners are one of three baseball teams under corporate ownership; the other two are the Atlanta Braves and the Toronto Blue Jays. 



1977 The Jays

The Blue Jays are located in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, where their home field is at Rogers Centre. They are a member of the Eastern Division of American League. Nicknamed "the Jays", The "Blue Jays" name originates from the bird of the same name. The team was originally owned by the Labatt Brewing Company, makers of the popular beer Labatt's Blue. They are the second MLB team to be based outside the United States, and currently the only team outside the U.S. after fellow Canadian franchise, the Montreal Expos, relocated to Washington, D.C. From 1985–1993, the Blue Jays won five AL East Division championships and two AL Pennants. They became the first team outside the U.S. to appear in and win a World Series (1992, 1993).

1969 The Pads

The Padres are based in San Diego, California. They play in the National League Western DivisionIn 1969, the Padres joined the ranks of Major League Baseball as one of four new expansion teams, along with the Montreal Expos (now the Washington Nationals), the Kansas City Royals, and the Seattle Pilots (now the Milwaukee Brewers). The Padres and the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim are the only MLB teams in California to originate from California. They have won five West Division titles and the National League Pennant twice, in 1984 and 1998, losing in the World Series both times. Team nicknames are The Pads and The Friars. 


1969 The Brew Crew

The Brewers are based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The team is a member of the Central Division of National League. The team is so named because of the city's association with the brewing industry. Their nicknames are True Blue Brew Crew, The Brew Crew, The Crew, Beermakers, Beersmen, Cerveceros, Birraioli. Originating in Seattle, Washington, as the Seattle Pilots, the club played for one season in 1969. The Brewers were part of the American League from their creation in 1969 through the 1997 season, after which they moved to the NL Central Division. They won the NL Division Series over the Arizona Diamondbacks. In 1982, "Beersmen" won the AL East Division and the AL Pennant, earning their only World Series appearance to date. In the Series, they lost to the St. Louis Cardinals.

1969 The Nats

The Nationals are a member of the East Division of the National League, based in Washington, D.C. The Nationals' name derives from the former Washington baseball team that had the same name. Their nickname is "the Nats" - a shortened version that was also used by the old D.C. teams. The club was founded in 1969 as the Montreal Expos, the first major league team in Canada. The Expos won a division championship in 1981. The team was moved before the 2005 season to Washington and renamed the Nationals. They have won second division title in 2012. The Nationals are one of two MLB franchises, and the only one in the National League, that has never played in a World Series (the Seattle Mariners are the other).


1969 The Big Blue Bus

The Royals are based in Kansas City, Missouri, as a member of the Central Division of the American League. The "Royals" name originates from the American Royal, a livestock show, horse show, and rodeo held annually in Kansas City since 1899. The name also followed a theme of other professional franchises in the city, including the Kansas City Chiefs football team. The Kansas City Kings basketball team was also named the Royals before moving to Kansas City. Other team nicknames are The Big Blue Bus, The Boys in Blue. They have won six West Division titles, two American League pennants and one World Series championship in 1985.

1962 The Miracle Mets

The Mets are based in the borough of Queens in New York City. They play in National League East Division. The Mets were founded in 1962 to replace New York's departed National League teams, the New York Giants and Brooklyn Dodgers. Team nicknames are The Amazin's, The Metropolitans and The Miracle Mets. They have won five Division titles and four National League pennants. The team never finished better than second to last until the 1969 "Miracle Mets" beat the Baltimore Orioles in the 1969 World Series in what is considered one of the biggest upsets in World Series history. Second championship they have won in 1986 over the Boston Red Sox.

1962 'Stros

The Astros are located in Houston, Texas. The team is a member of the Western Division of MLB's American League, having moved in 2013 after spending their first 51 seasons in the National League. They were established as the Houston Colt .45s in 1962. The current name was adopted three years later when they moved into the Astrodome, the world's first domed sports stadium. The team's nickname is 'Stros. With the Astros move to the American League, their new permanent interleague rival is the Colorado Rockies. National League's rivals were Texas Rangers. The Astros have won six NL Division titles, one National League pennant. They lost World Series in 2005 against the Chicago White Sox.


1961 The Rangers

The Rangers are based in Arlington, Texas. The franchise is currently a member of the Western Division of American LeagueThe team's name is borrowed from the famous law enforcement agency of the same name. The franchise was established in 1961 as the Washington Senators, an expansion team awarded to Washington, D.C., after the city's first ballclub, the original Washington Senators, moved to Minnesota and became the Twins. After the 1971 season, the new Senators moved to Arlington, Texas, and debuted as the Rangers the following spring. The Rangers have won five Division titles, two American League pennants and they lost World Series in 2010 and 2011.


1961 The Halos

The Angels are a professional baseball team based in AnaheimCalifornia, member of the West Division of American League. The "Angels" name is a tribute to the previous Los Angeles Angels who played in South Central Los Angeles from 1903 to 1957. The Halos is the team nickname. The Angels have developed many rivalries in, and outside of their division. They include New York Yankees, Boston Red SoxTexas Rangers, and Los Angeles DodgersThe Angels have won eight Division titles, one American League pennant and one World Series championship in 2002.

1901 The Swingin' A's

The Athletics are a MLB team based in OaklandCalifornia. They are a member of the Western Division of American League. The club was founded in PhiladelphiaPennsylvania, in 1901 as the Philadelphia AthleticsThe team left Philadelphia for Kansas City in 1955 and became the Kansas City AthleticsThey are most prominently nicknamed "the A's", in reference to the Gothic script "A", a trademark of the team and the old Athletics of Philadelphia. Other nicknames are The Swingin' A's, The White Elephants, The Elephants, The Green and Gold. The A's have won 16 Division titles, 15 American League pennants and 9 World Series championships in 1910, 1911, 1913, 1929, 1930, 1972, 1973, 1974 and 1989.


1901 The Yanks

The Yankees are based in the Bronx borough of New York City that competes in the American League's East Division. The club was founded in 1901 as the Baltimore Orioles. The team moved to New York City in 1903 and became the New York Highlanders, before taking the "Yankees" as their official name in 1913. The nicknames are The Bronx Bombers, The Yanks, The Pinstripers, The Bronx Zoo, The Evil Empire. The Yankees' rivalry with the Boston Red Sox is one of the most well-known rivalries in sports. The Yankees have won 18 Division titles, 40 AL pennants, and 27 World Series championships (1923, 1927, 1928, 1932, 1936, 1937, 1938, 1939, 1941, 1943, 1947, 1949, 1950, 1951, 1952, 1953, 1956, 1958, 1961, 1962, 1977, 1978, 1996, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2009), all of which are MLB records.



1901 The BoSox

The Red Sox are based in BostonMassachusetts, and a member of American League Eastern DivisionThe "Red Sox" name was chosen by the team owner, John I. Taylor, around 1908, following previous Boston teams that had been known as the "Red Stockings". Other nicknames are The Sox, The BoSox, The Olde Towne Team. Red Sox history has been marked by the team's intense rivalry with the Yankees, arguably the fiercest and most historic in North American professional sports. They have won eight World Series championships - 1903, 1912, 1915, 1916, 1918, 2004, 2007 and 2013. Following their recent victory in the 2013 World Series, they became the first, and so far, only team to win three World Series trophies in the 21st century.


1894 Twinkies

The Twins are based in Minneapolis, Minnesota. They play in the Central Division of MLB's American League. The team is named after the Twin Cities area comprising Minneapolis and St. Paul and their nickname is Twinkies. The team was founded in Kansas City in 1894 as the Kansas City Blues of the Western League. The team moved to Washington, D.C. in 1901 as one of the eight original teams of the American League, named the Washington Senators or Washington Nationals. The Twins have won 10 Division titles, 6 American League Pennants and 3 World Series championships in 1924, 1987, 1991.

1894 The Tigs

The Tigers are baseball team located in DetroitMichiganThey are the oldest continuous one-name, one-city franchise in the Central Division of American League. Their commonly known nicknames are The Tigs, The Bengals, The Motor City Kitties.  In 1905, the team acquired Ty Cobb, a fearless player with a mean streak, who came to be regarded as one of the greatest players of all time. The Tigers have won 6 Division titles, 11 American League Pennants and 4 World Series championships in 1935, 1945, 1968 and 1984.

The Indians are based in ClevelandOhio. They are in the Central Division of American LeagueThe "Indians" name originates from a request by the club owner to decide on a new name, following the 1914 season. Common nicknames for the Indians include The Tribe and the Wahoos, the latter being a reference to their logo, Chief WahooThe Indians have won seven AL Central titles, the most in the division. Since their establishment as a Major League franchise in 1901, the Indians have won two World Series championships, in 1920 and 1948.

1894 The ChiSox

The White Sox are located in the south side of ChicagoIllinois. They play in the American League's Central DivisionThe White Sox are one of two major league clubs based in Chicago, the other being the Chicago Cubs of the National LeagueThe club was originally called the Chicago White Stockings, after the nickname abandoned by the Cubs, and the name was soon shortened to Chicago White Sox, believed to have been because the paper would shorten it to Sox in the headlines. Their other nicknames are The Sox, The ChiSox, The Good Guys. They have won three World Series titles - 1906, 1917, 2005.




1894 The O's

The Orioles are based in BaltimoreMaryland. They are a member of the Eastern Division of American League. They spent till 1901 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, as the Milwaukee Brewers before moving to St. Louis to become the St. Louis BrownsAfter 52 years in St. Louis, the Browns moved to Baltimore in 1954 and adopted the Orioles name in honor of the official state bird of MarylandNicknames for the team include the O's and the BirdsThe Orioles have won a total of eight Division Championships, six Pennants, two Wild card berths and three World Series Championships - 1966, 1970, 1983.

1883 Los Gigantes

The Giants are a MLB team based in San Francisco, California that plays in the National League West Division. Originally known as the New York Giants, the team moved to San Francisco in 1958. Other nicknames are The Orange and Black, Los Gigantes, The G-Men, The Jints, The Gyros, The Boys from the Bay, The Seals. As one of the longest-established professional baseball teams, the franchise has won the most games of any team in the history of American baseball. They have won 22 NL pennants and appeared in 19 World Series competitions – both records in the NL. The Giants' 7 World Series Championships - 1905, 1921, 1922, 1933, 1954, 2010 and 2012 rank second in the NL (the St. Louis Cardinals have won 11). The Giants have the most Hall of Fame players in all of professional baseball. The Giants' rivalry with the Dodgers is one of the longest-standing and biggest rivalries in American baseball.



1883 The Boys in Blue

The Dodgers are members of the National League West division of MLB, a professional baseball team located in Los AngelesCaliforniaEstablished in 1883, the team originated in Brooklyn, New York, where it was known by a number of nicknames before becoming the Brooklyn Dodgers definitively by 1932. The team moved to Los Angeles before the 1958 season. They have a few nicknames The Boys in Blue, The Blue Crew, The Bums, Los Doyers. The Dodgers have won six World Series titles - 1955, 1959, 1963, 1965, 1981, 1988 and 21 National League pennants.


1883 Phightin's

The Phillies are a member of the Eastern Division of Major League Baseball's National LeagueThe franchise was founded in Philadelphia in 1883, replacing the team from Worcester, Massachusetts in the National League. Team nicknames are Phils, The Fightin' (or Phightin') Phils, The Fightin's (or Phightin's). 1882 The Perfectos

The Cardinals compete in the National League (NL) Central Division. They are based in St. LouisMissouri. The Cardinals' roots commence from an earlier local team from whom they took their original name, Brown Stockings. St. Louis established themselves in 1882 as a charter American Association (AA) team, shortened their name to "Browns" the next season, then joined the NL in 1892. They were also known as the "Perfectos" before adopting Cardinals as their official name in 1900. Their other nicknames are The Cards, The Redbirds, The Birds, The Birds on the Bat. As one of the most successful franchises in MLB history, the Cardinals has won 12 division titles, 19 NL pennants and eleven World Series championships - 1926, 1931, 1934, 1942, 1944, 1946, 1964, 1967, 1982, 2006, 2011.



1882 The Buccos

The Pirates based in PittsburghPennsylvania compete in the Central Division of the National League. They were founded in 1882 as Allegheny. They are also often referred to as the "Bucs" or the "Buccos" (derived from buccaneer, a synonym for pirate). Overall the Pirates lost two, but have won five World Series - 1909, 1925, 1960, 1971 and 1979. The rivalry between the Philadelphia Phillies and the Pirates was considered by some to be one of the best rivalries in the National League. It started when the Pittsburgh Pirates entered the NL in 1887, four years after the Phillies. With recent success, however the team has had very heated series battles with the Cincinnati RedsSt. Louis Cardinals, and Milwaukee Brewers.


1882 The Big Red Machine

The Reds are members of the National League Central Division, based in CincinnatiOhio. The team nickname is The Big Red Machine. They were established in 1881 as an independent club known as the Red Stockings. The team became a charter member of the American Association in 1882, and joined the National League in 1890. It was also at this time that the team first shortened their name from "Red Stockings" to "Reds". The Reds have won five World Series titles 1919, 1940, 1975, 1976, 1990, one American Association pennant, nine National League pennants and ten division titles.

1871 The Bravos

The Braves are a MLB team in Atlanta, Georgia, playing in the Eastern Division of the National LeagueThe club is one of the National League's two remaining charter franchises (the other being the Chicago Cubs) and was founded in Boston, Massachusetts, in 1871 as the Boston Red Stockings. The "Braves" name, which was first used in 1912, originates from a term for a Native American warrior. They are nicknamed The Bravos, The Team of the 90s, America's Team. The Braves made the final move to Atlanta in 1966. They won World Series titles in 1914, 1957 and 1995.
