The Diamondbacks are a professional baseball team based in Phoenix, Arizona. They play in the West Division of the National League. Since their debut, the Diamondbacks have won five National League West titles, one National League Championship pennant and the 2001 World Series, in which they defeated the New York Yankees of the American League. They became the fastest expansion team in the majors to win a championship, doing it in only the fourth season since their expansion in 1998. The team name is often shortened as The D-backs and other nickname is The Snakes.
