1901 The Swingin' A's

The Athletics are a MLB team based in OaklandCalifornia. They are a member of the Western Division of American League. The club was founded in PhiladelphiaPennsylvania, in 1901 as the Philadelphia AthleticsThe team left Philadelphia for Kansas City in 1955 and became the Kansas City AthleticsThey are most prominently nicknamed "the A's", in reference to the Gothic script "A", a trademark of the team and the old Athletics of Philadelphia. Other nicknames are The Swingin' A's, The White Elephants, The Elephants, The Green and Gold. The A's have won 16 Division titles, 15 American League pennants and 9 World Series championships in 1910, 1911, 1913, 1929, 1930, 1972, 1973, 1974 and 1989.
