1998 The D-backs

The Diamondbacks are a professional baseball team based in Phoenix, Arizona. They play in the West Division of the National LeagueSince their debut, the Diamondbacks have won five National League West titles, one National League Championship pennant and the 2001 World Series, in which they defeated the New York Yankees of the American LeagueThey became the fastest expansion team in the majors to win a championship, doing it in only the fourth season since their expansion in 1998. The team name is often shortened as The D-backs and other nickname is The Snakes.


1998 D-Rays

The Rays are based in St. PetersburgFlorida. They are currently a member of the American League East Division. They began play as a Devil Rays. Prior to the 2008 season the team unveiled new uniforms along with a name change. Considered were options such as the "Aces," "Bandits," "Cannons," "Dukes," "Stripes," and team owner personal favorite, the "Nine". Team nickname is D-Rays. The 2008 season saw the Rays win their first AL East championship. They defeated the rival Boston Red Sox to win the AL Championship, but lost to the NL champion Philadelphia Phillies in that year's World Series. Since then, the Rays won their second AL East championship in 2010. The Rays' second chief rival arNew York Yankees and they also have an intrastate rivalry with the National League's Miami Marlins.


1993 The Rox

The Rockies are franchise based in DenverColorado. They are currently members of the National League West Division. They took the name "Rockies" due to Denver's proximity to the Rocky Mountains, which is reflected in their logo. They are nicknamed The Rox. They began play in 1993, sharing Mile High Stadium with the National Football League's Denver Broncos their first two seasons while Coors Field was constructed. Their newest Spring Training home, Salt River Fields at Talking Stick, opened in March 2011 and is shared with the Arizona Diamondbacks. In 2007 they won AL Pennant and advanced all the way to the World Series, only to be swept by the Boston Red Sox


1993 The Fightin' Fish

The Marlins are a professional baseball team based in MiamiFlorida and a member of the Eastern Division of National LeagueThe Miami Marlins began play in the 1993 season as the Florida Marlins and they changed their name to the "Miami Marlins" in 2011. They are nicknamed The Fish, The Fightin' Fish, Miracle Marlins, Rainbow Fish. The Marlins have the distinction of winning a World Series championship every year they qualified for the postseason. They defeated the American League champion Cleveland Indians in the 1997 series and the New York Yankees in the 2003 World Series.



1977 The M's

The Mariners are based in SeattleWashingtonEnfranchised in 1977, they are a member of the Western Division of American League. The "Mariners" name originates from the prominence of marine culture in the city of Seattle. They are nicknamed "the M's", a title featured in their primary logo from 1987–1992. They won their first division championship and defeated the New York Yankees in 1995, and later two more. The Mariners are one of eight teams without a World Series title, and one of two (along with the Washington Nationals) to never have appeared in a World Series. Owned by Nintendo, the Mariners are one of three baseball teams under corporate ownership; the other two are the Atlanta Braves and the Toronto Blue Jays. 



1977 The Jays

The Blue Jays are located in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, where their home field is at Rogers Centre. They are a member of the Eastern Division of American League. Nicknamed "the Jays", The "Blue Jays" name originates from the bird of the same name. The team was originally owned by the Labatt Brewing Company, makers of the popular beer Labatt's Blue. They are the second MLB team to be based outside the United States, and currently the only team outside the U.S. after fellow Canadian franchise, the Montreal Expos, relocated to Washington, D.C. From 1985–1993, the Blue Jays won five AL East Division championships and two AL Pennants. They became the first team outside the U.S. to appear in and win a World Series (1992, 1993).
